Brewers demolish the Cubs
And, that was a massacre. When I visited Wrigley in 2017 to watch the World Series bound Cubs, the place was like one big party. It was like the fans and the players all knew they were going to finally win the World Series and knew that no one else knew, just yet. Today, the stadium felt like a funeral.
When Mike Montgomery was pulled after what was four terrible earned runs, the hope was that the bullpen could settle things down. Things got worse before they got better with 4 earned runs for Justin Grimm and 5 more for Rob Zastryzny.
The only thing that brought the Cubs fans any joy was the slumping, but fan favourite Kyle Schwarber mashing a ball for a home run in the 8th.
I was happy to be joined at this game by my friend Geoffrey Weeks who flew in from Toronto, to attend his first game at Wrigley in almost 20 years.
