15th straight win sets an Indians club record
When I booked my trip to Chicago months earlier, I couldn’t have predicted that I would get to see the Indians in the midst of a historic winning streak. In addition to witnessing Corey Kluber pitch a 7-inning, 13 strikeout gem for his 15th win of the season, the Indians ripped the game open on 4 runs in the first and never looked back.
The Indians provided the show I wanted, with eight hits between Chisenhall, Lindow and Encarnacion. After spending multiple games in awe of Edwin over the years in Toronto, it was a treat for him to launch a home run out of the park in the first inning.
With the White Sox always seemingly in the shadow of the cross-town Cubbies, so too is their ballpark. Truth is that Guaranteed Rate Field (i.e. U.S. Cellular Field / Comiskey Park) is also a deeply underrated baseball experience. The Concourse has better food options than Wrigley Field, the beer selection was extensive and I was able to sit right behind home plate, something that I couldn’t ever afford over on the North Side.
