Astros 7 – Nationals 1

World Series 2019, Game Five: Astros win three in a row in Washington

Game Recap | Box Score

Not satisfied with attending one World Series game, I decided about 90 minutes before game time to take a peek on StubHub and see if I could justify cost-wise taking in another game. While I shouldn’t have been able to justify the cost, I saw a ticket in the 100s drop below the price limit that I had set for myself. With the click of a button, I decided to share a sizeable amount of money with the original; ticket holder, StubHub and Major League Baseball.

With an improved seating situation from the previous evening, I didn’t need to get to the ballpark as early to try and find a good spot to view the game. I had my place in Section #111, and I knew it would be an excellent evening. I didn’t realize that I would get the opportunity to sit next to the original owner of my seat, which was given up by one of his sons who couldn’t make it to the game. He was a good game companion who had a passion for the game and lots of good baseball stories from his youth.

Unfortunately for the 45k+ fans in attendance, the National would lose their third straight home game, heading back to Houston trailing 3-2. On the other hand, everyone knew that winning Game Five would be difficult for this squad.

  • Problem #1: Gerrit Cole is starting for the Astros.
  • Problem #2: Max Scherzer was scrubbed from the game with some serious arm issues
  • Problem #3: The Nationals bats have been silent since returning to D.C.
  • Problem #4: The umpires saddled the Nationals with some rough calls

On the other hand, President Trump will rarely appear in public unless it’s with his sycophantic, red-hat-wearing MAGA disciples. It was a joy to join in on delivering the loudest boo I’ve ever heard in my life while eating a Ben’s Chili Bowl Half Smoke.
