Miguel Cabrera hits his 500th home run

After over two years since last attending a baseball game in person — thanks to our wonderful pandemic life — it was an absolute pleasure to some of the first Blue Jays games north of the border. While Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a solid three-hit game with an RBI, the standout for Toronto was Steven Matz, who threw a solid six innings to keep the Blue Jays in the game.

While I was keeping track of Miggy’s race to his home run milestone, I was well aware that it may not happen this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased he decided to hit it for this one game between Detroit and Toronto.

Unfortunately, Kirby Snead’s wobbly performance in the eleventh would let the Tigers steal the win on a couple of doubles by Daz Cameron and Willi Castro.
