Perfect Game: Matt Cain
For the first time in the complete Giant’s franchise history, Matt Cain threw a perfect game to beat the Houston Astros 10-0. In addition to the 27 batters he faced and vanquished, he managed to strike out 14 of them, tying Sandy Koufax for the most in a perfect game. His strikeout total was also his personal best and his 125 pitches were the most ever thrown in a perfecto.
This was the second perfect game of the 2012 season, only the third time that happened in MLB history.
