Thank you Bartolo
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to see the Atlanta Braves beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-6. It was memorable because I was under the impression that it was the last time I was going to see Bartolo Colon a.k.a. Big Sexy, a.k.a. The Last Expo, pitch. His season wasn’t going well so I was sure he was going to be released soon enough, and he was. At 43 years old, with an ERA close to 7.00 his retirement seemed imminent.
Never would I have imagined that on July 17th the Minnesota Twins would pick up Bartolo. With my luck, I ended up in Minneapolis not just on a day when Colon was going to start another game against the Blue Jays, but also be there on Big Sexy night, a whole evening devoted to The Last Expo.
While the Blue Jays finally got to Big Sexy on a couple of home runs from Kevin Pillar and Josh Donaldson, his first two innings were impeccable; six fly balls to the outfield. Nothing more, nothing less.
