Greinke dominates Bucks, Goldy goes deep
With two rain delays doing what they could to disrupt the flow of the game, Zack Greinke shut down the Pirates over six innings and three plus hours. Having all the runs they would need secured in the 4th innings, Arizona was able to cruise to their third win in three days over the hometown Bucks.
As his fastball speed not what it was a few years ago, I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first time seeing Zack Greinke pitch live. What he’s lost in 90 plus fastballs, he has made up for in precision and mixing up his curve and changeup. He through a few times what is being referred to as an eephus curveball, a looping throw that drops in under 70 mph.
With Greinke striking out seven over two innings and allowing only two hits, the Bucs couldn’t even manage one walk. The Pirates looked off balance, and only scraped together a couple of runs off of a few singles when the Diamondbacks finally went to the bullpen.
Today’s giveaway was a Sean Rodriguez Bobblehead. It was sadly fitting that Sean the holder of a .150 batting average would strikeout to end the game today.
