Los Angeles Angels 5 – Toronto Blue Jays 4

May 23rd, 2018: Los Angeles Angels vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Angels rise in the 9th with four runs

Game Recap | Box Score

It may have taken nine innings but the Angels bats finally lit up, taking a win away from the Blue Jays. After giving up three straight walks, Tyler Clippard gave up four earned runs to lose the game for Aaron Sanchez, who was sharp, if not dominant through five innings. John Gibbons seems to manage his bullpen with the goal of “making sure everyone gets in the game”, going through eight different pitchers for some unknown reason.

Yangervis Solarte continues to shine as the best of the roster depth additions to the team. While he can hit for power, it’s his personality that manages to shine through in the way he plays the game and interacts with other players. He reminds me a bit of Beltre, but with fifty points less on his batting average.
