Kansas City Royals 3 – Toronto Blue Jays 8

I realized during the pre-game warm up that one of my favourite, romantic parts of the build up to the game is the slow walk from the bullpen by the starting pitcher, catcher and the pitching coach to the dugout after their warm up. There is something special about the slow intensity of the moment.

Interestingly just as I noticed that this was RA Dickey’s best start that I’d ever seen, he did what I feel like I see him do during every start; launch in a meatball pitch for a home run. After 3.2 innings of 6 strikeout baseball, Cheslor Cuthbert took him deep.

Happy 45th birthday!
