22 innings, 21 innings of scoreless baseball
It took only 6:14 for the first run of the game on a home run by the Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Rick Dempsey at the top of the 22nd inning. It’s worth noting that:
- Winning pitcher John Wetteland who eventually join the Expos three years later
- Montreal ace Dennis Martínez lost the game in the 22nd inning during a rare relief appearance
- Expos mascot was thrown out of the game, a MLB first
This game ended being the longest in the Montreal Expos history and finished close to 2:00 am.
