Alan Trammell’s #3 is retired
The White Sox’ Michael Kopech won his first Major League game, giving up only one run through six innings. Kopech was good through five, giving up his only run on a couple of doubles to Nick Castellanos and Victor Martinez. He did have a bit of mid-game control problems and hit two Tigers in the fourth.
As far as Jordan Zimmerman is concerned, he seemed in command during his first two innings and then things fell apart quickly in the third. He gave up four runs on five hits but was able to make it through until the end of the sixth.
With their 7-2 win over the Tigers, the White Sox moved ahead of Detroit in the American League Central.
Before the game, the Tigers honoured Alan Trammell’s induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame — and his twenty years with the team — to retire his number 3. It was an exciting experience to share with Tigers fans and see the loved they show Alan for the decades of memories he offered Detroit.
“Sparky turned a team of young, talented players, into fundamentally sound baseball players.” – Alan Trammell during his Hall of Fame Speech.
