Stroman unsettled, Gallo swings for the fences and Smoak shines
After a four-run first inning, it seemed as if Marcus Stroman had settled into a groove that would help to reduce his inflated ERA. Alas, no such luck as he was tagged with two more earned runs after a series of scrappy hits and a few sacrifice flies in the 6th to give the Rangers the lead at 6-4.
With Nomar Mazara, Ronald Guzmán and Joey Gallo accounting for most of the team’s hits and all their RBI’s, Gallo had the strongest day with a signature Home Run in the first to clear the bases. Justin Smoak brought his batting average up to .275 on a four for four day, followed by Kevin Pillar with two hits to keep his average about .300.
Funny enough, I saw that GlobalTV’s Elias Makos, who I’ve met a few times, was at the game as well. After a brief Twitter exchange, we met up briefly to say hello.
