Lance McCullers dominates the Mariners through seven
While Robinson Cano managed a solo home run in the first, Lance McCullers spent the rest of his seven innings shutting down the Mariners and striking out 11 of them. After having a disastrous start against the Minnesota Twins — where he gave up eight runs over four innings — this was the type of game he needed.
With McCullers given the Astros the cover they need, it took them until the 6th inning to overtake the Mariners off of a two-run home run by Brian McCann of reliever Dan Altavilla. They were hitting and getting on base but just couldn’t get runners home, loading the bases numerous times with no run success.
