Perfect Game: Félix Hernández
For the first time in Seattle Mariners history, Félix Hernández pitched a perfect game at Safeco Field, in Seattle, WA. His performance against the Tampa Bay Rays was only the 23rd in the history of Major League Baseball. Hernandez threw 113 pitches and struck out eleven batters. Brendan Ryan was the only person to score, on a single to Left Field by Jesus Montero in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
This was the third perfecto of the 2012 season, the first time that ever happened in MLB history. It was also the second one to be thrown at Safeco field — another record — when Philip Humber and the Chicago Cubs beat the Mariners on April 21st, 2012.
