June 16th, 2018: Washington Nationals 0 - Toronto Blue Jays 2

Estrada outduels Scherzer for the win

Game Recap | Box Score

Healthy and confident, Devon Travis’ two-run homer in the 5th inning would be all the Blue Jays would need to blank the Nationals 2-0. Facing one of the best starters in Max Scherzer, Marco Estrada surprisingly shutout Washingon over six-plus innings.

With a three-time Cy Young winner taking the mound for the Nationals, the expectations are always high. One automatically expects him to get ten strikeouts, which he did today. Many days he can be even better than that making no mistakes, always a threat for a no-hitter. Unfortunately, he made one mistake which cost the light hitting Nats the game.

Thanks to the relief help by Danny Barnes, Aaron Loup and Tyler Clippard, Toronto finally got their first shutout of the  2018 season. With a pitching staff that is struggling from top to bottom, the win was a welcome distraction from a rough season to date.
